A Japanese blockbuster about driving the supply tunnel for the Kurobe No. 4 dam through a water-bearing fracture zone in the Alps of Toyama — a dramatization of a real 1956–63 project on which 171 workers died. It made tunnel engineering a national epic and remains a touchstone of Japan's postwar construction identity.
