🤾Records

Handball · The fastest scoring team sport on the planet: seven a side, thirty minutes a half, and a goal roughly every ninety seconds.

Handball's record book is shorter than most major sports' because the modern indoor game is barely seventy years old at elite level and because the rules have changed enough that scoring records from different decades are not really comparable. A 1970s world championship produced far fewer goals per match than a 2020s one, and the seventh-player rule alone has added several goals to a typical scoreline since 2016.

The marks below are drawn from IHF, EHF and Olympic records. Where a total is still being extended by an active player or team, it is anchored to the point at which it was last verified, and where a figure covers different political entities - the Soviet Union, the Unified Team, Russia - the entities are listed separately rather than merged.
