Major honours
With a population of 5.5 million, this is the highest-yield programme relative to its size, producing seven men's world titles. The starting point is 1982, when Jocky Wilson, from Kirkcaldy, won his first world title. With his gap-toothed grin and unrestrained celebrations, he became one of the faces of the 1980s boom alongside Bristow, adding a second title in 1989. Les Wallace carried the BDO title on in 1997, and in the PDC era Gary Anderson took 2015 and 2016 while Peter Wright took 2020 and 2022, giving Scotland back-to-back world champions. The national team won the World Cup of Darts in 2019 pairing Anderson with Wright, and again in 2021 pairing Wright with John Henderson. The Premier League's night at Glasgow's OVO Hydro is famous as the loudest on the circuit, and the noise when a Scottish player takes the stage is not matched at any other venue.

Rivalry
Matches against England always read to the crowd as an extension of football. Jocky Wilson's two titles against English champions in 1982 and 1989 set that tone, and a World Cup of Darts meeting between the two countries produces an atmosphere of national rivalry rarely seen elsewhere in the sport.
