Major honours
This programme produced three world titles with virtually no domestic pro circuit behind it. The starting point is 1994, when John Part, from Ontario, won the BDO World Championship to become the first world champion from outside Britain. He later moved to the PDC, beat Phil Taylor 7-6 in the 2003 final to end an eight-year winning streak, and added a third title in 2008, remaining the only man to have won world titles with both organisations and beaten Taylor in a final. Part crossed the Atlantic for every tournament, reaching four world finals from a country with almost no darts infrastructure. Jeff Smith, who reached the 2015 BDO World Championship final, and Matt Campbell and Jim Long, who both held PDC tour cards, carried the line forward. Canada has never won the World Cup of Darts, but it was the first country to prove that this sport's talent pool was never geographically fixed.

Rivalry
Canada's rival was never a country but one man, Phil Taylor. After a heavy defeat to Taylor in the 2001 final, Part repaid it on the same stage in 2003, and their three World Championship meetings were the first sign that England's 1990s monopoly was not permanent.
