Major honours
Belgium has never produced a world champion but holds two PDC major trophies. The starting point is 2020, when Dimitri Van den Bergh, from Antwerp, won the World Matchplay in Blackpool to become Belgium's first PDC major champion. He had already been cited as a success story of Europe's youth system after winning the PDC World Youth Championship in 2017 and 2018 back to back. In 2024, Mike De Decker added a second major by winning the World Grand Prix, played entirely with double-start legs. The generation before them was the brothers Kim and Ronny Huybrechts, who made Belgium a fixture at the World Cup of Darts and on television throughout the 2010s. The Belgian leg of the European Tour, held close to the Dutch border, draws crowds from both countries, and by pro players produced per capita, Belgium ranks second only to the Netherlands on the European mainland.

Rivalry
Neighbouring Netherlands is the benchmark and the rival. Belgian players developed by gaining experience in Dutch leagues and tournaments, and until Van den Bergh's 2020 major, Belgian darts was always assessed in the Netherlands' shadow.
