Major honours
This is the sport's birthplace and remains its centre. The National Darts Association, founded in London in 1924, first wrote down rules, board dimensions and throwing distance, Olly Croft's British Darts Organisation (BDO) united the county associations into a single pyramid in 1973, and the breakaway PDC, formed in 1992, is likewise based in England. England's 49 men's world titles are shared across twenty different champions, nearly double the combined total of 26 from the other eleven countries. The national team has won the World Cup of Darts five times, in 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016 and 2024, always fielding a pair. The domestic structure runs from pub leagues through Super League and county matches, with the PDC's Challenge Tour and Development Tour layered on top, giving England the world's densest ladder from amateur play to a tour card. The World Championship, held over three weeks around Christmas at Alexandra Palace in north London, is the biggest stage this country has given the sport.

Rivalry
The rivalry with the Netherlands defines this sport's national contests. The two countries have split the World Cup of Darts' fifteen editions five titles apiece, and ever since Raymond van Barneveld beat Phil Taylor 7-6 in the 2007 World Championship final, any meeting between the two draws a full house.
