Major honours
This is the only programme in the southern hemisphere to hold both a world champion and a World Cup of Darts title. The starting point is 2002, when Tony David, who played through haemophilia, won the BDO World Championship to become the first men's world champion from outside Europe and North America. The next face was Simon Whitlock, known for his tattoos and braided hair. He reached the 2010 PDC World Championship final, where he lost to Phil Taylor, but made Australian darts a fixture on television, and West Australian Damon Heta and the late Kyle Anderson carried the line on. A team of Heta and Whitlock won the World Cup of Darts in 2022. Domestically, Darts Players Australia runs the pro circuit and the Oceania qualifier for the World Championship, while the long-running World Series event, held in Melbourne, regularly brings the PDC's top players to the country.

Rivalry
The World Cup of Darts meeting with England is the biggest fixture that comes up most often, and Heta and Whitlock lifting the trophy in 2022 was the first time a country other than England or the Netherlands had won that event. Australian fans watching Alexandra Palace at dawn because of the time difference is also part of this country's darts culture.
