The smallest talent pool on this list, and for that reason the nation whose results look the most implausible. The Peruvian Squash Federation is based in Lima, and its competitive infrastructure is concentrated in a handful of clubs in the capital. Out of that narrow base came Diego Elias. Coached from childhood by his father, Jose Manuel Elias, he won back-to-back World Junior Championships in 2014 and 2015. On the professional tour he was blocked by Egyptian players for years, but in 2023 he reached world number one, the first South American man to do so, and on May 18, 2024, in Cairo, he beat Mostafa Asal 11-6, 11-5, 12-10 to become South America's first world champion. That match, finished in 61 minutes, took place in front of an Egyptian home crowd. Elias's game is defined by an extremely low stance, economical movement, and a length game with almost no unforced errors.

Elias's entire career has been a fight against Egypt's generation of players. His rivalry with Mostafa Asal in particular, including the 2024 Cairo World Championship final, has become a fixed matchup at the top of the sport.
