The nation that currently dominates squash, and that dominance is built not in a national training camp but in the multi-sport member clubs of Cairo and Alexandria. The Egyptian Squash Federation launched in 1991, but the roots run much deeper: F.D. Amr Bey won the British Open repeatedly in the 1930s, and Mahmoud Karim was champion four seasons running in the late 1940s. The core of the modern Egyptian model is a standing academy attached to a membership club. Wadi Degla Club's Darwish Squash Academy, entrusted to former world number one Karim Darwish, runs 74 courts, 106 coaches and more than 1,970 registered players by the club's own count, and New Cairo's Black Ball Sporting Club, opened in late 2017, has hosted PSA Platinum-tier events since its first tournament in December 2018. The result: 16 men's World Championship titles, 11 women's, 13 World Team Championship titles, and in 2024 Egypt swept both the men's and women's World Junior Team titles in the same year.

Egypt's fiercest competition isn't across a border, it's within one. World Championship finals since the 2010s have routinely become all-Egyptian affairs, and at the 2026 Giza edition, Egyptian players filled all four men's and women's final spots.
