Major honours
The team that has fallen at the final hurdle of Europe's top club competition longer and more often than any other. Founded in 1977, Veszprem has won the Hungarian league 30 times and the Hungarian Cup 32 times, facing essentially no domestic competition. In the Champions League, though, it reached the final four times — 2002, 2015, 2016 and 2019 — and lost every one. Magdeburg blocked it in 2002, and Veszprem fell in successive years at the two-day Cologne FINAL4 in 2015 and 2016. It has instead won the SEHA League five times and took its first IHF Super Globe in 2024. The club has also been a gathering point for the best of the Balkans and Iberia: Arpad Sterbik guarded the goal, Laszlo Nagy and Mirza Dzomba anchored the backcourt, and Kiril Lazarov, holder of the world championship record of 92 goals in a single tournament, also played here.

The Hungarian derby against Pick Szeged is the biggest domestic fixture. In Europe, Barcelona and Kiel have been Veszprem's recurring wall, and the club's entire career is sometimes summed up as a record of never getting past those two.
