Major honours
A border city of 90,000 people that made it to the top of Europe. Formed in 1990 through the merger of two clubs, it plays at the 6,300-seat Flens-Arena, opened in 2001. It has won the Bundesliga only three times, in 2004, 2018 and 2019, but has finished runner-up 14 times, long earning it the label of eternal bridesmaid. That image flipped in the 2014 Champions League, when, on its third final appearance, it beat rival THW Kiel 30-28 to win the title. It has also taken the EHF Cup/European League three times, in 1997, 2024 and 2025. Scandinavian players, particularly Danes, have long been the club's backbone: Danish right winger Lasse Svan set the club's all-time appearance record with 627 games through 2021-22, while Anders Eggert and Holger Glandorf anchored the attack for years.
