Major honours
A city-funded club that reached the top of Europe in its debut season. Founded in 2007 as a sports club under the city of Bucharest, it plays at the 5,300-seat Polivalenta Hall. It entered the Champions League for the first time in 2015-16 and won it immediately, beating Gyor in a shootout in the Budapest final for Romania's first-ever top European club title. Domestically it has won the Romanian league eight times and the Romanian Cup eight times. Its roster-building approach was straightforward: a city budget used to buy up national-team-level players from across Europe all at once. Sweden's Isabelle Gullden, Croatian goalkeeper Jelena Grubisic, members of Brazil's world-championship-winning team, and Romania's own greatest player, Cristina Neagu, joined in succession. Neagu never won a major title with the Romanian national team, but she reached the top of Europe with this club.

The derby with fellow Bucharest club Rapid is the biggest domestic fixture, while Gyor is its fixed European opponent. Since the 2016 final, the two clubs have repeatedly met in the quarterfinals and semifinals nearly every season.
