Major honours
Founded in 1936, USA Badminton is a marginal program today but was among the world's strongest in the 1950s and 60s. The United States won the very first women's team title, the Uber Cup, in 1957 and took all three inaugural editions through 1960 and 1963. At the center of that run was Judy Devlin Hashman, who won the All England women's singles title ten times, still the record for singles titles at that event. In men's play, David Freeman won the All England in 1949. Results then disappeared for half a century, until Howard Bach and Indonesian-born naturalized player Tony Gunawan won men's doubles gold at the 2005 Anaheim World Championships, the program's only world title. No Olympic medal has ever followed. The program was shaken again in June 2025 when the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee stripped USA Badminton of its status as national governing body.

Rivalry
The early Uber Cup era's opponents were Denmark and England, and after surrendering the crown to Japan in 1966 the United States disappeared from top-tier contention. Today's remaining rivalry is little more than Pan-American regional qualifying against Canada.
