Major honours
The Chinese Taipei Badminton Association was founded in 1973, and the national team is based at the National Sports Training Center in Kaohsiung's Zuoying district. It is a small program, but its last decade of achievement has been anything but small. Tai Tzu-ying held the women's singles world No. 1 ranking for a record 214 cumulative weeks from 2016 and won back-to-back All England titles in 2017 and 2018. The men's doubles pairing of Lee Yang and Wang Chi-lin won gold at Tokyo 2020 and again at Paris 2024, becoming the first pair to win Olympic men's doubles gold twice. These two golds are Chinese Taipei's entire Olympic gold tally; adding Tai's silver from a 2020 Tokyo final loss to Chen Yufei brings the total to three Olympic medals. World Championship gold, however, remains elusive — the program has 3 silvers and 6 bronzes. Chou Tien-chen's long run in the world's top 10 in men's singles is a further sign of the program's depth.
