Quick answers

Does this atlas rank groups by IQ, race or nation?

No. Pathways and evidence stay individual. Scores are browsing aids — never group biological or racial ranks.

Did the Bauhaus prove anyone can design?

It proved a curriculum: workshops, materials, critiques. Starting points in spatial skill still differ (see spatial-talent).

Is design the same as visual-art talent?

Overlaps in seeing. Design adds users, production and constraint. A beautiful drawing can be a failed product.

Do design-school portfolios measure talent?

They measure a prepared story. Coaching and software access already sit in the PDF.

What about “design thinking” kits?

A popular export from Stanford d.school and consultancies. Useful as a beginner loop; thin as a complete talent theory.

Can engineers be designers?

Many already are. The wall is vocabulary and critique culture, not a mystical eye.

Start with this section - Develop

Development here follows Gagné-like honesty: aptitudes, practice and catalysts. Design talent is not a finished essence.

Windows differ by domain. A closed sport window is not a closed writing window. Read the clocks.

Stages

  1. Copy a good object

    Take it apart on paper.

    Workshop apprenticeship.

  2. Write the constraints

    User, cost, body, time.

    The real brief.

  3. Prototype ugly first

    Card before chrome.

    Iteration speed.

  4. Test with a stranger

    Watch the hands.

    HCI humility.

  5. Critique on criteria

    Name the principle that failed.

    Rams, not vibe.

  6. Document the misses

    Process pages.

    Portfolio honesty.
