Major honours
An international distance-running team launched in 2017 by Jos Hermens's management company, Global Sports Communication, with backing from Dutch insurer NN Group. Its athletes train not in the Netherlands but at the Kaptagat and Kapsabet camps in Kenya's Rift Valley — the fact that even Eliud Kipchoge cleans his own toilet in a spartan dormitory at 2,400 metres altitude sums up the team's culture. The results are overwhelming. Kipchoge won back-to-back Olympic marathons in 2016 and 2021, set the marathon world record twice, and in Vienna in 2019 became the first person to break the two-hour marathon barrier, unofficially, in 1:59:40. Uganda's Joshua Cheptegei erased two of Kenenisa Bekele's 15-year-old records within two months in 2020, running 12:35.36 for 5000m and 26:11.00 for 10000m, both of which still stand. Sifan Hassan, Letesenbet Gidey, Geoffrey Kamworor and Bekele himself have all trained under the same roof.
