Major honours
Slovenia put its name in the history of women's all-round skiing through a single racer, Tina Maze. Maze won the overall Crystal Globe in 2013-14 with consistently strong results across nearly every discipline except downhill, and she won giant slalom gold at Sochi 2014, sharing the title with Switzerland's Dominique Gisin in one of the few tied gold medals in alpine Olympic history. She finished with 26 career wins and two world championship golds, and the women's giant slalom and slalom races held at her home course of Kranjska Gora have become Slovenia's marquee winter sporting event since her success. Despite its small population, Slovenia has continued to produce international-level women's technical racers since Maze.
