Major honours
Norway is among the most decorated Olympic nations in alpine skiing. Kjetil Andre Aamodt won eight medals across five Games from Albertville 1992 to Turin 2006, the most in the sport's history. Four of those were gold, tying Janica Kostelic for the most ever, and he won Olympic super-G three separate times, in 1992, 2002 and 2006, holding elite form from age 20 to 34. Aksel Lund Svindal and Kjetil Jansrud later carried the speed lineage forward, with Svindal finishing with 36 career wins, two overall Crystal Globes and two Olympic golds. Norway has built a program particularly strong in the speed disciplines on top of its Nordic skiing heritage, and Aleksander Aamodt Kilde is currently a world-class downhill and super-G racer.
