Major honours
The United States is the largest alpine skiing power outside the Alps, having produced world-class racers of both sexes. Mikaela Shiffrin won her first World Cup race at 17 and reached 100 career victories at Sestriere on 23 February 2025, the most World Cup wins by any racer of either sex, to go with five overall Crystal Globes and eight world championship golds. Lindsey Vonn won 43 downhills alone and is regarded as the greatest speed skier in women's history, finishing with 82 career wins and four overall Crystal Globes. On the men's side, Bode Miller collected six Olympic medals including super-combined gold at Vancouver 2010, and Ted Ligety won three consecutive world championship titles in giant slalom alone, continuing the country's technical lineage. The US Ski Team builds around training infrastructure centered on Vail and Park City and Colorado's high-altitude environment.
