A fat beach break with a tower is the correct first site.

A modern point machine; localism and crowds.

Pipeline (Banzai)

North Shore Oahu · reef 2–6 m+ · winter · Oct–Mar

The television reef. Not a school. Shallow, heavy, famous for a reason.

Teahupo’o

Tahiti · reef slab · event / season · austral winter

Paris 2024 Olympic site; a slab that punishes depth mistakes.

Jeffreys Bay

A long right point on the world tour map.

European power beach-break; not a first soft-top.

A famous left off a river bar; sand and swell dependent.

Tips

Most good surfing happens on an ordinary sandbar with a flag. The slabs are television.
