Tips
- School beach first — Waikiki-type water, not Pipeline-type posters.
- Ask the tower about rips — Every new beach.
- Crowd is a condition — As real as wind.
- Olympic sites are not classrooms — Teahupo’o is a film, then a specialist wave.
Most good surfing happens on an ordinary sandbar with a flag. The slabs are television.
