Maldives

Origins

From sailing atolls to safari boats and a biosphere bay.

Maldivian seafaring and fishing are older than resorts. Recreational diving arrives with 1970s-80s safari boats and a handful of North Male names. The 2011 Baa biosphere listing added a manta-bay politics the atolls still argue.

The history is a house reef that became a seaplane brochure.
