Performing talent

Practice

Designed methods for performing talent — steps, drills and pitfalls, not a promise.

Practice means designed work with feedback — Ericsson’s construct, not Gladwell’s hour ticket.

Where Macnamara et al. 2014 published domain bands (games ~26%, music ~21%, sports ~18%, education ~4%), this page uses those rounded figures and does not invent new precision.

Steps

  1. Memorise a short score

    One minute, exact.

    Time is the boss.

  2. Perform twice

    Same cues, second nerves.

    Reliability.

  3. Take three notes

    Change only those.

    System homework.

  4. Film one take

Watch without sound, then without picture.

    Attention audit.

  5. Do it in a harder room

    Strangers or a bigger space.

    Size.

  6. Rest the voice/body

    Talent includes stopping.

    Health.
