Major honours
Aprilia made its name dominating the small classes. After entering Grand Prix racing in 1985, it stacked up 54 world titles in 125cc and 250cc, with Valentino Rossi winning the 1997 125cc and 1999 250cc titles on Aprilia machinery and Max Biaggi taking three straight 250cc crowns for the marque. The premier class was a different story. The three-cylinder RS Cube of 2002 was a difficult failure, and even after returning with the RS-GP in 2015 the team stayed near the back for years. The turn came when Aleix Espargaro took Aprilia's first MotoGP win in Argentina in 2022, followed by further wins at Silverstone and Barcelona. The Noale team used a lower concessions tier to push aggressive in-season development and testing, and in 2025 Marco Bezzecchi delivered the team another win. In 2026 at Mugello, Jorge Martin set the sport's outright top speed of 368.6 km/h.

In the small classes of the 1990s, Aprilia and Honda fought every round, and that arena is also where the personal feud between Rossi and Biaggi began, one that carried on for more than a decade after both moved up to the premier class. Today Aprilia's direct comparison is fellow European latecomer KTM.
