Major honours
Gen.G launched in 2017 as KSV Esports, entering the LCK by acquiring Samsung Galaxy's League of Legends roster, which had won the World Championship that same year, and took its current name the following year. Based in both Seoul and Los Angeles and backed by American capital, with an academy business built in Busan, it is regarded as the most corporate of Korean organizations. Results exploded from the summer of 2022 onward. With Chovy, Ruler and Peanut as its core, Gen.G swept the regular season and playoffs in 2023 and 2024 for four straight LCK titles, dominating T1 domestically for a stretch. A World Championship remains missing, however: the 2017 title won by the acquired roster belongs to Samsung Galaxy's record, and no Summoner's Cup has ever been lifted under the Gen.G name.

The rivalry with T1 defines the 2020s LCK. The two teams have split the domestic final almost every year, and a recurring pattern where Gen.G dominates the regular season and playoffs while T1 walks away with the international trophy has fueled continual debate.
