An accord is a geometry. Floral is rose, jasmine, sandalwood, oud, vetiver, musk or amber stacked on purpose.
Naturals and molecules share the same pyramid; IFRA draws some of the lines.
Accords
- Classic bouquet — Rose + jasmine + ylang over woods — Joy’s geometry.
- Muguet spring — Lily-of-the-valley with green stems, after Diorissimo.
- Carnation spice — Clove-tinged carnation as in L’Air du Temps.
- Peony musk — Wet peony and clean musk, 1990s–2010s default.
- Aldehydic floral — Soap-sparkle over petals, borrowed from No. 5.
Materials
- Rose de Mai — Rosa × centifolia absolute from Grasse May harvest.
- Jasmine grandiflorum — Night-picked flowers, hexane or enfleurage historically.
- Ylang-ylang — Cananga odorata extra from the Comoros and Madagascar.
- Hedione — Firmenich’s methyl dihydrojasmonate, the airy jasmine molecule (1962).
- Hydroxycitronellal — Classic muguet building block, now IFRA-limited.
- Peony accord — A reconstructed note; peony yields little usable oil.
