Repetition without design is not Ericsson’s construct. Perfect is the wrong promise.
Interpersonal talent shows up here through tests, conservatories, academies and workplace stories — windows that already mix training with starting points.
What follows is a map of institutions, not a diagnosis. Selection usually measures current performance.
US, UK, Canada, Australia and related school markets
Institutions
- Student government and debate — Leadership is noticed in clubs long before a test. Dense exam cultures shrink that window.
- Startup culture — Accelerators let founder sense be tried early. Survivorship bias is huge.
- Teacher training — Education degrees are the institutional path for teaching talent. Explaining well is not the same as subject scores.
- Workplace EQ talk — Corporate workshops popularise emotional intelligence. They are not clinical diagnoses.
Local false readings
- Loud = leader — Volume is not the same as organising other people’s work.
- EQ as test product — A purchased workshop is not emotional literacy in conflict.
- Founder myth — Startup stories hide luck, timing and unpaid help.
Use this local map to ask better questions of schools and coaches. It is not a ranking of children or nations.
