Founded in 1933, the Eagles won NFL titles in 1948 and 1949 and beat Vince Lombardi's Green Bay 17–13 in 1960 behind Chuck Bednarik playing both ways — the last full-time two-way player, on the field 58 minutes that day. More than half a century passed without a title until backup Nick Foles, thrust in after a starter injury, beat New England 41–33 in Super Bowl LII. The 'Philly Special' — Foles catching his own touchdown pass on fourth down — remains the only time one player has thrown and caught a touchdown pass in a Super Bowl. In 2024, Saquon Barkley's 2,005 regular-season rushing yards and Jalen Hurts' offence demolished Kansas City 40–22 in Super Bowl LIX for a fifth league championship.

Rivalry

Dallas is the NFC East's most naked hostility — fan scale and media exposure mean twice-yearly games set the season's mood. The New York Giants are among the most frequent opponents since 1933.
