Major honours
AFL founder Lamar Hunt started the club as the Dallas Texans in 1960 and moved to Kansas City in 1963. Hunt coined the name 'Super Bowl,' and the Chiefs took three AFL titles (1962, 1966, 1969) before beating Minnesota 23–7 in Super Bowl IV as the AFL's last champion. Half a century passed without another title until Patrick Mahomes, drafted in 2017, became starter in 2018 and shifted the league's centre of gravity. Mahomes and Andy Reid reached seven straight AFC Championship Games from 2018 through 2024, winning Super Bowls LIV, LVII, and LVIII — then pursued a first-ever three-peat. Arrowhead recorded 142.2 decibels on 29 September 2014, a Guinness mark for the loudest outdoor stadium.

The Raiders feud is the AFL's oldest grudge match — both 1960 founding members sharing the West for more than half a century. Recently, repeated playoff meetings with Josh Allen's Buffalo Bills have built a new axis of rivalry.
