When should the credits page, not the tile badge, decide the moon icon?

The tile badge on a moon icon is a short label: MIT, ISC, CC-BY, or Original. The credits page holds the author string you actually paste. Use the badge to filter and the credits page to write the line, especially when the mark will be published at 256 px on a slide people will share.

Filter the moon icon with the badge, then copy the author from the credits page whenever the licence is CC-BY or the deck is public. A 256 px badge that only says CC-BY is not the attribution. Original marks still take a short site credit on a shared slide.

What the badge is for

The badge lets you skip a moon icon whose licence you cannot carry. It is a filter at 256 px, not the sentence you print. MIT and ISC tell you the notice lives with the product. CC-BY tells you to go read a name.

What the credits page is for

Open credits when you will publish the moon icon. Copy the author and the source shown for that pack. A footer at the end of the deck can hold one line even if the icon itself is only 256 px.

Public deck versus internal draft

An internal draft can keep a MIT moon icon with the notice only in the repo. A slide that leaves the building with a CC-BY moon icon needs the credits-page line, even at 256 px.

One line for the whole pack — moon-icon

If ten icons including the moon icon come from one pack, one credits-page line covers them. You do not repeat the author under every 256 px tile.

This page tells you where the author line for a moon icon lives. It is not the licence text. Read that on the credits page before a 256 px file leaves your draft.

Questions

Is the badge ever enough for a CC-BY moon icon?
No. CC-BY wants the author and a way to reach the licence. The badge at 256 px only tells you that duty exists. The credits page supplies the name.
What about an Original moon icon?
Original is not a third-party licence, but a public slide still carries a short credit for the site. The 256 px badge does not print that sentence for you.
Can one footer cover a MIT moon icon and a CC-BY neighbor?
Yes, if the line names each pack you actually used. Do not hide the CC-BY author behind a MIT-only notice. Check both at 256 px before you export.
