Build objectives only for facts that can reappear as a name, number or list.
- High-yield first
Put high-yield lists for objectives into objectives before commentary.
- Daily due only
If time is short, drop new objectives and pay the due queue. That is the pass, not a failure.
- Exile chronic fails
Move chronic fails off infinite objectives and learn them as a one-page list.
- Freeze and retrieve
Two weeks out, zero new objectives. Leftover minutes go to closed-book dumps.
- Eve light
Do a short due pass of objectives, then sleep. Do not inflate the pile at 1 a.m.
Shortcuts
- One-fact rule — If the answer for objectives has an "and", split it.
- Hide the answer — objectives that shows the answer in the prompt is reading practice, not recall.
- Ten-second map — Suspend objectives you cannot map to public outline in ten seconds.
- Image one label — For a diagram, hide one label per objectives, not the whole figure.
- Sleep after due — A short due pass of objectives then sleep beats a 1 a.m. rewrite binge.
Triage
- Must-name facts — Keep objectives for names, numbers and lists that can be asked verbatim.
- Skip unasked prose — Do not turn commentary into objectives unless the sitting asks you to recite it.
- Procedure off-queue — A multi-step procedure belongs on a worked sheet first, then maybe one objectives per step.
- Freeze before sitting — New objectives stops when the calendar says the sitting is inside two weeks.
