Major honours
Canada has carried a world-class lineage in both ice dance and men's singles. Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir won North America's first Olympic ice dance gold at Vancouver 2010 and became the most decorated figure skaters in Olympic history across three Games, with three golds and five medals in total. Kurt Browning landed the sport's first officially ratified quadruple jump, a toe loop, at the 1988 World Championships in Budapest, opening the technical age of the sport. Brian Orser took silver at the 1988 Calgary Olympics after a final duel with the United States' Brian Boitano known as the Battle of the Brians, but built a second career as one of the world's leading coaches, guiding Yuna Kim and Yuzuru Hanyu to Olympic titles. Canada is also consistently one of the strongest teams at the World Team Trophy and the Grand Prix series.
