Reponses courtes
Quelle autorité ou quel corridor local compte pour ce type ?
Commencez par la lentille locale : homologation, licences et hubs — pas une checklist mondiale.
Is this a buying guide?
No. Tool-Lifes /vehicles is an educational atlas. It explains history, systems and culture without affiliate rankings.
Are the scores official?
No. The six scores are relative editorial 0–100 marks across the 48 types on this site.
Where do the photos come from?
Lead images resolve from Wikimedia Commons via Wikipedia titles on the English masters, with licences recorded on the credits page.
Why metric units?
Metric is the default. Regional notes (US customary, local brand culture) appear in culture and market chapters.
How is this different from a wiki article?
Each type gets seven fixed-depth chapters, comparable scores and cross-type labs — structured for browsing, not a single freeform page.
Sur Voilier, propulsion, structure, commande et sécurité partagent la même enveloppe d'exploitation.
Les jauges résument marge structurelle, maintenabilité et facteurs humains en score relatif.
Systèmes
Structure
Voilier: Mainsail and headsail(s) set drive via mast bend and sheet tension. Reefing lines reduce area as wind rises.
Propulsion
Voilier: Ballast keel resists heeling moment; lifting boards trade windward ability for shoal draft.
Énergie
Voilier: Self-tailing winches multiply crew force on halyards and sheets; clutches hold load while tails are made off.
Commande
Voilier: Displacement or planing hull forms set speed limits; rudder and foils balance weather helm.
Interface
Voilier: Compass, chartplotter, AIS, and VHF complement PFDs, lifelines, and throwable devices.
Sécurité
Voilier: Small diesel or electric motor provides maneuvering in calms and tight marinas.
Indicateurs relatifs
Points chauds
Voilier: Standing rigging terminals
Voilier: Corrosion at swages or deck chainplates precedes shroud failure under gusts.
Voilier: Sail UV & stitch fatigue
Voilier: Sun-damaged laminate or leech flutter reduces drive and risks blowout.
Voilier: Keel bolt integrity
Voilier: Hidden crevice corrosion can compromise ballast attachment on older boats.
Voilier: Autopilot drive slip
Voilier: Undersized drives overheat when seas build on long passages.
Voilier: Through-hull seacocks
Voilier: Stuck or leaking valves sink boats at dock if ignored.
Matériaux
Voilier: E-glass / epoxy laminate
Voilier: Modern hulls blend stiffness with repairability for cruising shells.
Voilier: 316 stainless rigging
Voilier: Marine-grade wire and fittings resist salt crevice attack when rinsed.
Voilier: Woven polyester sails
Voilier: Dacron balances cost and durability for cruising cross-sections.
Voilier: Lead or iron ballast
Voilier: Dense keel mass lowers center of gravity for stability.
