Reponses courtes
Quelle autorité ou quel corridor local compte pour ce type ?
Commencez par la lentille locale : homologation, licences et hubs — pas une checklist mondiale.
Is this a buying guide?
No. Tool-Lifes /vehicles is an educational atlas. It explains history, systems and culture without affiliate rankings.
Are the scores official?
No. The six scores are relative editorial 0–100 marks across the 48 types on this site.
Where do the photos come from?
Lead images resolve from Wikimedia Commons via Wikipedia titles on the English masters, with licences recorded on the credits page.
Why metric units?
Metric is the default. Regional notes (US customary, local brand culture) appear in culture and market chapters.
How is this different from a wiki article?
Each type gets seven fixed-depth chapters, comparable scores and cross-type labs — structured for browsing, not a single freeform page.
Sur Train de fret, propulsion, structure, commande et sécurité partagent la même enveloppe d'exploitation.
Les jauges résument marge structurelle, maintenabilité et facteurs humains en score relatif.
Systèmes
Structure
Train de fret: Lead loco and mid-train/remote units synchronize traction via radio-linked throttle/brake commands.
Propulsion
Train de fret: Prime mover drives alternator; rectifier-inverter feeds axle-hung AC traction motors.
Énergie
Train de fret: Brake pipe pressure propagates service and emergency reductions to every car relay valve.
Commande
Train de fret: Positive train control enforces speed and authority limits on many North American lines.
Interface
Train de fret: Knuckle couplers and elastomer draft gear manage buff/draft forces in long consists.
Sécurité
Train de fret: Tank cars, intermodal wells, and bulk hoppers follow AAR/FRA-style inspection and placarding.
Indicateurs relatifs
Points chauds
Train de fret: Hot box detectors
Train de fret: Overheated bearings precede journal failures and derailments—wayside IR monitors trend rise.
Train de fret: Brake shoe/pad wear
Train de fret: Uneven wear on long grades signals stuck valves or imbalanced pipe timing.
Train de fret: Coupler knuckle fatigue
Train de fret: Cracks at shank radii risk separation under heavy draft.
Train de fret: Handbrake left applied
Train de fret: Flat spots and smoke appear miles after departure if not caught.
Train de fret: ECP comm breaks
Train de fret: Electronically controlled pneumatic faults revert to slower conventional braking.
Matériaux
Train de fret: Micro-alloy rail steel
Train de fret: Head-hardened rail resists rolling contact fatigue under heavy axle loads.
Train de fret: Cast steel coupler knuckles
Train de fret: Grade-specific castings meet fatigue life for draft loads.
Train de fret: Composite brake shoes
Train de fret: Low-metal compositions reduce wheel thermal shock on descents.
Train de fret: High-carbon rail wheels
Train de fret: Tread hardness trades with chipping on sharp flange contact.
